The project does not present a blank screen and call it complete. It makes disappearance observable, cumulative and irreversible while preserving evidence of every earlier state.
Art about absence
Each missing pixel is an exact absence with a coordinate, a verified cause and a permanent place in the public record.

The image becomes less complete over time. Its disappearance is slow enough to witness and precise enough to audit.

Visibility has a material consequence. Audience growth gives the project reach while removing part of the object being seen.

The process
One witness / one pixel / no return
The artwork moves in only one direction.
The audience reaches a new verified high.
Instagram provides the public participation signal. Ordinary views do not alter the work; only a new all-time follower high creates an event.
One unique pixel disappears for each new witness.
The corresponding coordinates are appended to a permanent ledger and removed from the cumulative image.
No unfollow can restore the image.
The live audience can fall, but every earlier erasure remains. The artwork remembers participation after the number changes.
The final pixel ends the visible experiment.
At one million permanent witnesses, the image reaches nothing while its ledger, journal and public archive remain.

No. It is one cumulative 1,000 by 1,000 digital artwork with a permanent pixel ledger. The image begins present and becomes less complete through verified audience participation.
Why does this artwork erase pixels?
Pixel erasure turns an abstract audience number into a visible and irreversible consequence. The more attention the artwork receives, the less of its image remains.
Does an unfollow restore the artwork?
No. The live audience may rise or fall, but the artwork follows its verified all-time high. Every coordinate already erased remains absent forever.
