A monument to disappearance.
Nothing Monolith, stylized as nothing.monolith, is one evolving participatory digital artwork. It begins as a one-million-pixel monochrome object and becomes less complete as its audience reaches new verified highs.
Each new all-time-high witness permanently removes one unique pixel. The audience gives the work visibility while gradually taking away its visible form.

Statement
Attention leaves a trace
Visibility creates absence.
The work converts an abstract audience number into a permanent physical fact inside a digital image. Growth and disappearance are not opposites here. They happen in the same event.
Mission
To translate each verified new all-time witness into one unique, irreversible pixel erasure and preserve the exact cumulative history in public.
The audience
Participants are witnesses and co-authors of change. Every arrival has equal weight; no person is ranked, judged, blamed or reduced to a claim about their worth.
The endpoint
At one million permanent witnesses, the visible object reaches zero pixels. The image becomes nothing while its ledger and archive remain.

Why nothing.monolith?
The object
nothing.monolith
Monolith names the single, enduring object and its one-directional record. Nothing names the work's eventual visible condition. Together, they describe one coherent artwork becoming nothing over time.
The name is not a judgment about people, followers or social media. It describes the formal movement of the artwork from presence toward absence.

Practice
Independent internet art project
Image, rule, ledger, audience and time form one work.
Native digital image
A 1,000 × 1,000 monochrome image is altered at exact pixel coordinates without replacing the underlying object.
Permanent state engine
A cumulative technical ledger preserves every erased coordinate. Earlier absence is carried into every later state.
Public witness signal
Instagram provides the verifiable participation event. Only a new all-time follower high can append erasures.
Independent public record
This website holds the canonical state, method, provenance, journal and exhibition context beyond any single platform.
